    Beginning in January, a six-part series of webinars will inform participants about Photovoltaic (PV) panels that convert sunlight into electricity and are installed on a roof or placed on the ground.

    The price of installing a PV solar system on a farm ranges from $22,900 for a small 10-kilowatt system to $114,500 for a large 50-kilowatt system.

    2018’s Ohio Maple Days will be on Jan. 18 in Morrow County, on Jan. 19 in Wayne and Holmes counties, and on Jan. 20 in Geauga County.

    The annual program, the same at each location, will feature educational sessions on maple production. It’s timed to help producers prepare for the coming season, which in Ohio may run from January through mid-March, depending on the weather. Both hobby and commercial producers are welcome.

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — Landowners interested in beginning a farm can take an eight-week intensive course starting in January to help them realize their ambition.

    The New and Small Farm College is offered by Ohio State University Extension and helps landowners explore options for land use, obtain basic information about farming enterprises, and plan an agricultural or horticulture enterprise. OSU Extension is the outreach arm of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.
