COLUMBUS, Ohio – Business owners, do you ever wonder what consumers think about your business website? Are you confident that your customers can easily find your business online?

Business owners statewide can learn how to better manage their online presence to promote their businesses at a workshop offered by marketing experts with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.

The DeviceReady marketing workshop is April 25 and will be led by specialists from the Direct Agricultural Marketing Program of Ohio State University Extension. OSU Extension is the outreach arm of the college.

The workshop is designed to offer business owners information on key marketing strategies to promote their businesses and products by enhancing their online presence, said Christie Welch, director of OSU Extension’s ag marketing program.

The goal, Welch said, is to help business owners make their business website standout better among the millions of Internet sites.

“The question business owners should ask themselves is ‘are you invisible to your customers online’?” Welch said. “Businesses that don’t have an effective online presence in essence are virtually invisible to potential consumers.”

The program will include tips and techniques to help business owners learn how consumers:

  • Find your business online.
  • View your business on mobile devices.
  • Use social media to access your content, as well as to post comments, photos, videos, review and location-based check-ins.
  • Utilize apps and GPS devices to find and navigate your business.

The DeviceReady workshop is being offered in collaboration with the Small Business Development Center located at Columbus State Community College (CSCC). The workshop is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CSCC Center for Workforce Development, Room 409, 315 Cleveland Ave., on the Columbus State campus in Columbus.

Registration is $20 by April 24 and includes a box lunch and handouts. For more information, contact Welch at 740-289-2071 or welch.183@osu.edu. To register, contact Charissa Gardner at 740-289-2071 ext. 132 or gardner.1148@osu.edu.
