OSU Income Tax Schools (Two Days)

OSU Extension is pleased to be offering the 51st Annual OSU Income Tax Schools in November- December, 2014. These two-day schools will be offered at eight convenient locations throughout Ohio and are designed for tax preparers with some experience preparing and filing federal tax returns for individuals and small businesses.

Instruction focuses on tax law changes and on the problems that you face in preparing tax returns.  Highly qualified instructors will explain and interpret tax regulations and recent changes in tax laws. These two-day schools offer continuing education credit for attorneys, CPAs, EAs and CFPs, and other tax return preparers.

ETHICS WEBINARS: Melinda Garvin, EA, RTRP, will present two webinars on ETHICS on Wednesday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. and Friday, December 19, at 10:00 a.m. Approved by the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility for 2 hours of CE credit. No extra charge if enrolled in the two-day tax schools. (NOTE: there will be no Ethics presentation during tax schools). Sign up for the webinar most convenient for you.

OHIO VIRTUAL TAX ACADEMY: Want to know the latest changes in Ohio tax law? Deborah Smith, Administrator of the Personal Income and School District Income Tax Divisions, will present a webinar on Ohio tax law changes on Tuesday, December 9, at 9:30 a.m. No extra charge if enrolled in the two-day tax schools. (NOTE: no CE credits for Ohio Virtual Tax Academy)

ATTEND ONE DAY ONLY: If your schedule only allows you to attend one day, you can choose to attend either Day 1 or Day 2 at a reduced rate of $200. You will still receive CE credits for the hours completed, the National Income Tax Workbook, a free Ethics webinar, and the option to purchase the RIA Federal Tax Handbook for only $30.

NEW INSTRUCTOR: We welcome Burton Koss, EA, to the team of instructors!  Burton is an Enrolled Agent and the Senior Tax Advisor for Cortes & Baker in Hilliard, Ohio. He replaces Dianne Nichols who retired after teaching at OSU Tax Schools for several years.

2014 Agriculture & Natural Resources Issues Workshop 
Monday, December 15, 2014

This workshop will be in a webinar format presented by Professor Phil Harris from University of Wisconsin.

If you represent farmers, this full-day webinar will give you the information you need concerning the special issues with farm tax returns.

You can choose to attend a host location or listen at home or office. Host locations will provide a facilitator, refreshments, lunch and Ag Issues Tax Manual. You are encouraged to bring your computer as there will be real-time Q&A.

If you choose not to attend a host location, a web address will be e-mailed to you the week before Dec. 15. Make sure that you have web connectivity. We cannot guarantee delivery of the Ag Issues Tax Manual unless you register by the deadline of December 5, 2014.
